Threave House - Dumfries & Galloway

Although this photograph may look like an HDR image, it not. It was made with a single exposure and processed to increase the contrast in the detail. In addition it was cross processed to change the white balance from sunlight to tungsten. I love the detail that the process has brought out in the sky, and how the shade of the sky has been darkened by the cross processing.

My original shot included a pond in the foreground. I eventually cropped it off because it detracted from what the subject of the photograph was.

This crop uses the curve of the rocks which edge the pond to lead the eye to the house, which as a result of the recomposition is placed on the “thirds”.
